Taipei City was made an Executive Yuan-administered city in 1967, and Taipei National Tax Administration Bureau was established on July 1 st of the same year. Upon establishment, there were no branches. In order to provide better services to the public, Songshang Service Office was set up on March 16 th , 1968. Following the adjustment and enlargement of the districts in Taipei , Songshang Service Office was transformed to Songshang Revenue Service Office in July, 1968. In order to balance the development of all the districts, the Taipei city government divided the Songshang district to Songshang and Sinyi districts on March 12 th , 1990. Therefore, the Bureau added Sinyi Revenue Service Office on January 1 st , 1991. The current branch office was moved to the spacious and bright workspace on the 4 th floor of the China Airlines Building on the 3 rd section of Nanjing East Road in Taipei on June 28 th , 1997. The addition of the Business Tax Section allowed the office to be transformed into a branch.

The Songshang Branch serves the Songshang district, the area of which was adjusted on March 12 th , 1990. The south part of the North-South Railway became the Sinyi district and the north part the Songshang district. The Songshang district is adjacent to the Zhongshang district to the west, delimited by Fuxing North Road , while the Keelung River separates the Songshang and Neihu districts. There are a total of 33 borougs in the Songshang district.
