Taipei National Tax Administration (abbreviated as TNTA) was established to collect national taxes in Taipei when it achieved municipality status on July I, 1967. Before that, enforcement of national tax laws was delegated to local tax agencies.
The TNTA is responsible for collecting Business Income Tax,Individual Income Tax, Estate Tax, Gift Tax, Commodity Tax ,Securities Transaction Tax , Tabacoo and Alcohol Duty, Futures Exchange Tax, as well as Value Added & Non-Value Added Business Tax .
Service Regions
The TNTA provides service to an area of 272 square kilometers and a population of more than 2.6 million. The population of Taipei has doubled since 1967, when The TNTA was established.
To match the administrative districts of Taipei City, we have installed 2 branches and 11 offices to provide collection services. Each office has Service Section, Enterprise Income Tax Section,Individual Income Tax Section and Business Tax Section to implement the collection process.
Organization
On March 1, 1982, the TNTA reshaped its organization on a functional rather than a tax-item basis. There is one division for each function. Each division is responsible for only one link in the tax collection process. This change has greatly enhanced efficiency and internal control.
The TNTA is headed by a Director-general ommissioner. Under his supervision, ten divisions and five offices in headquarter as well as 2 branches and 11 offices within Taipei admintstrative districts are set up to enforce tax law.
