Welcome to the civil service ethics office mailbox. This is a channel for you to report corruption and illegal behavior by revenue agents and for us to introduce innovation anti-corruption measures.

Our office investigates reported cases of corruption such as the following :
1. A revenue agent requests a bribe while carrying out his duties, or provides illegal assistance after receiving a bribe.
2. A revenue agent uses family members or colludes with other parties to gain illicit profits.
3. A revenue agent embezzles funds by using his official status.
4. A revenue agent accepts gifts or treats from taxpayers.
5. A revenue agent uses public facilities or resources for personal benefits.
6. Counterfeit or falsified certificates or official documents for personal gain and which could cause harm to others.
7. Any suggestion of procedures at our offices which may result in abuse.
8. Suspected involvement in bid fixing on the part of our office during purchasing activities, or improper restriction of bidding specifications or qualifications.. etc.
9. Cases of purchasing where there is suspected involvement in fraudulent acceptance or over-quoting of prices / quantities?etc.
10. Other illegal activities.

Rewards for reporting corruption :
According to the "Regulations Governing Rewards and Protection for Reporting Corruption" promulgated by the Executive Yuan, the government will issue rewards for any reported corruption that has been successfully prosecuted by the courts. The rewards is assessed according to the sentence received, and ranges from a minimum of NT$ 200,000 to a maximum of NT$6,000,000. The standard amounts are as follows :
Court sentence Rewards (NT$)
Sentences over 15 years imprisonment, life imprisonment or the death penalty. 4,500,000-6,000,000 (not included)
10-15 years imprisonment 3,000,000-4,500,000 (not included)
7-10 years imprisonment 2,000,000-3,000,000 (not included)
5-7 years imprisonment 1,500,000-1,500,000 (not included)
3-5 years imprisonment 1,000,000-1,500,000 (not included)
1-3 years imprisonment 500,000-1,000,000 (not included)
Under 1 year imprisonment, detention, or fine 200,000-500,000 (not included)
One third of the reward will be paid after a primary court returns a verdict of guilty. Once the verdict is final, the remainder of the reward will be paid. The reward shall be repaid if the initial guilty verdict is subsequently overturned.

Protection for reporting corruption :
Under the "Regulations Governing Rewards and Protection for Reporting Corruption", the organization that processes the reported case shall keep the reporting person's name, age, address and residence confidential. All relevant letters and documents shall, unless absolutely necessary, be preserved separately from the investigation case file. Any "leaks" will be penalized in accordance with criminal law or other regulations.
